For every 100 projects Zion Outdoors completes, we will give a US veteran who lives in the community we serve a walkway renovation for free!
At Zion Outdoors, we believe in more than just creating beautiful and functional walkways. We believe in giving back to our communities and we believe those who served this great country are deserving because they gave so much for our freedom. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our new give-back program, Walkways for Warriors™.
What is Walkways for Warriors™?
Walkways for Warriors™ is our heartfelt initiative aimed at honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. For every 100 projects we complete, a deserving US veteran will receive a walkway renovation, free of charge. This is our small way of saying thank you to those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
How It Works
We have kept the process as straightforward as possible and invite you to nominate a veteran who you believe deserves a brand-new walkway. Here’s how you can get involved:
Fill out the nomination form and provide some basic information about the veteran, and why you believe they deserve this recognition. Once submitted, our team will review the nominations and select a recipient based on the eligibility criteria and the strength of the nomination.
The eligibility criteria are simple:
- Service in the Armed Forces: The nominee must have served in the United States military.
- Geographic Location: The nominee must reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) or Austin (AUS) metropolitan areas.
Why Nominate a Veteran?
Nominating a veteran for the Walkways for Warriors™ program is a convenient way to show appreciation for their service. Here are a few reasons why you might consider nominating someone:
- Recognition of Sacrifice: Veterans often face numerous challenges, both during and after their service. Providing them with a new walkway is a tangible way to recognize and honor their sacrifices.
- Community Building: By nominating a veteran, you’re helping to build a stronger, more supportive community. It’s a way of bringing people together to celebrate the contributions of our heroes.
- Improving Quality of Life: A new walkway can significantly improve a veteran’s quality of life, providing safer and more accessible access to their home.
A Note from Our Founder
I remember as a boy growing up and seeing a picture of handsome young man on my grandma’s piano. The picture was of her brother David Gaino who served in WWII and never came home. He paid the ultimate price and I remember her sharing with me why America is great and we must always support it.
Years later, my mother in law shared one Memorial Day how she lost her brother in the Vietnam War, Duane Bentley, and she knows as a sister what it’s like to lose a brother who paid the ultimate price. Those two men, even though I had never met them, left an impact on me and those lives have let us all live free in this great country.
In addition, over the years I have had many family members serve in different branches and I want to honor them like my Grandpa Roy Winar (USAF), Uncle Jim Gravette(USAF), Brother in Law Jon Walthers (Marines), Jon Collins (Army),Uncle Tom Winar (USAF), Uncle Tom Gravette (Army). We all know men and women in our families and in our communities that have served and because of them we have been able to live great lives here in the United States! Walkways for Warriors™ is just a small token of us giving back to those who are the true heroes in our communities.
